Hallelujah Jesus: The Highest Praise to the Highest Name

There are moments in prayer when a simple phrase becomes more than words. It becomes a memorial. It becomes a weapon. Recently, during worship, I found myself declaring, "Hallelujah Jesus," and the weight of those two words immediately brought weight to the tears I was already shedding. Something about those words shifted the atmosphere. It was remembrance. It was Heaven reminding me of where this phrase first entered my life and the breakthrough it carried with it.

Over the past several days, the Holy Spirit has been steadily expanding my language of worship. First came, "Thank You, Lord." Then, "I bless You." After that, I found myself continually declaring that God is worthy. Most recently, He introduced Himself to me as El Gibbor, the Mighty God. As I worshiped from that revelation, "Hallelujah Jesus" flowed out of my spirit. In that moment I realized this progression was not random. The Holy Spirit was intentionally building a vocabulary of worship that corresponded with the season I am currently walking through.

The phrase itself carries extraordinary biblical weight. "Hallelujah" comes from the Hebrew expression halelu Yah, meaning "Praise Yah" or "Praise the LORD." It is not merely an encouragement to praise; it is a command to release praise toward the covenant God of Israel. Throughout Scripture, hallelujah is reserved for moments of God's victory, His righteous judgments, His unmatched sovereignty, and His eternal reign. The final Psalms repeatedly begin and end with Hallelujah, while Revelation 19 records Heaven erupting in four thunderous declarations of "Hallelujah" as God's kingdom triumphs forever. If praise truly functions as a spiritual weapon, then hallelujah represents one of its highest expressions because it acknowledges God's absolute supremacy before circumstances have changed.

Then there is the name of Jesus. Scripture declares that God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name above every name, so that every knee will bow in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. His name carries authority over sickness, darkness, principalities, death, and every created thing. Salvation is found in no other name. Demons recognize His authority. Heaven responds to His authority. Hell submits to His authority. Every promise of redemption is secured through His authority.

When these two realities come together, something remarkable emerges. "Hallelujah Jesus" becomes more than a familiar church phrase. It is the highest expression of praise directed toward the highest name that has ever been given. It is praise focused with precision. It is worship carrying legal authority. It is declaring God's victory while simultaneously invoking the authority of Christ. Biblically, it becomes an act of spiritual warfare because praise magnifies God's rule while the name of Jesus enforces His victory.

That understanding made my recent worship encounter deeply personal because I remembered the first time those words transformed my life. It was 2007. I had begun pursuing a genuine relationship with God after remembering something He had spoken to me during my sophomore year of college: get up every morning at five o'clock and give Him praise. I returned to that instruction faithfully, yet I could not feel God's presence. I questioned everything. I wondered whether something was wrong with me or whether this closeness with God simply wasn't possible.

Eventually, I visited my mother's former church, where the pastor shared that a spirit of lust had attached itself to my life and was blocking the presence of God from my life. He instructed me to complete a forty-day fast, explaining that nothing less would break what was standing between me and God's presence. I obeyed.  Those forty days were some of the most difficult days of my spiritual life. This was long before I knew I was a Kingdom Scribe. Long before I was a strategist. I was just winging it and honestly fighting for my life. These 40 days were painful. They were ugly. No matter how much I prayed, read Scripture, worshiped, or praised, I still could not sense God's presence. It felt as though Heaven was silent.

Then came the fortieth day.

During Sunday worship, the atmosphere suddenly shifted. Pastor Cyrus Flanagan stopped and instructed the congregation to simply begin saying, "Hallelujah Jesus." I stood to my feet and began repeating those two words. As I did, I became completely lost in worship. Something broke. I was told that I apparently got so lost in worship, someone had to hold me up to keep me from falling off the stage (OG FDub knows about this, lol).  Everything I had been battling spiritually shattered in God's presence. The barrier that had separated me from experiencing Him was removed, and from that day forward I have never again lived without the awareness of His presence.

Looking back now, I see that this was never just a memorable church service. It became the foundation for an assignment God would give me years later. Ten years afterward, in 2017, He led me to release Misery Loves Company: The Truth About Sexual Strongholds and How to Break Them. What He delivered me from in 2007 eventually became a strategy of freedom for others. My breakthrough became someone else's blueprint. To this day, it is my most used strategy. I created a full course around this book teaching people how to break soul ties.

That is why saying "Hallelujah Jesus" today struck me so deeply. It wasn't simply reminding me of where I had been. It was reminding me of who God has consistently revealed Himself to be throughout every season of my life. The God who delivered me then is still delivering today. The Mighty God I now know as El Gibbor is the same God who met me on the fortieth day of my fast. The same Jesus whose name broke chains then still carries all authority now.

As I continue declaring Psalm 21 over my life and watching the Holy Spirit expand my worship language, I no longer hear "Hallelujah Jesus" as a familiar church expression. I hear it as a strategic declaration. The highest praise is being released toward the highest name. Heaven is being magnified over every earthly circumstance. Victory is being proclaimed before the battle is over because the outcome has already been settled in Christ.

Sometimes God does not give us new weapons. He reminds us of the ones that have already won previous battles. For me, "Hallelujah Jesus" is one of those weapons. It carries the memory of deliverance, the authority of Christ, and the reminder that the Mighty God who moved before has never stopped fighting on behalf of His people.
